The occupants of Ainola

Aino Kari (1893-1972)

"The other Aino of Ainola", i.e. parlourmaid Aino Kari with a broom in her hand.

The parlourmaid, Aino Kari, came to Ainola in the summer of 1911. She left her position at the age of 75, after 57 years of service. Kari became "the other Aino" of Ainola. Her tasks included cleaning and doing the laundry as well as supplying the composer's desk with plenty of sharp pencils.
At Ainola, Aino Kari kept a diary. Only a few wartime excerpts from it have been published. The diary is a unique document containing day-to-day information on the people who visited Ainola.
